Established by a volunteer-led community group, the goal of this Endowed Fund is to increase the urban canopy in Kawartha Lakes, through citizen led projects focused on planting trees and creating valuable green canopies across all communities in Kawartha Lakes. Launched in August 2020, this goal will be achieved through founding principles in Education, Advocacy, Execution and Community Integration.
The inaugural Canopy Project is at the Boys and Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes. The completion of this Project will improve the diversity and coverage of the urban canopy on the 7-acre site on Lindsay Street South, Lindsay Ontario, which is a hub for families, fully accessible to the public, and connected to urban and rural trails.
Watch for new Canopy Projects coming soon.
